William Gutterman

Loving father, garndfather, greatgrandfather and husband! Willie Gutterman was a rare type of person! He was a completely selfless man! He put everyone before himself even when he was obviously sick and not well he would tell his daughter, grandson, son in law, granddaughter and his doctors if we could get him to go "I'm great never felt better wanna go 10 rounds" He called his grandson everyday no matter what he was doing or where he was. The day before he died he made that call even though he was in no shape to worry about anyone he called Michael and he said " How is everything you feeling ok. How is the weight loss going, You get a job yet" to which Michael responded " Your in a hospital bed sick and your worried about me" Willie said " I know how I am I'm ok I'll be out tomorrow but I'm worried bout you your my grandson" The doctor told him that day he was not going home for a while, But the next day October 26th 2008 Willie's heart,kidney's and lungs failed and he did leave the hospital not in the way the grandson may have taken it! Willie only got upset if anyone tried to worry about him or his health!  One of my favorite stories was when he went to see the doctor a week before he ended up in hospital bed which he passed in the doctor looked at him and said " William you look like your not doing good maybe I should run a few tests to see" Willie stood up and got in boxers stance and said " I have never felt better, I'm strong healthy and can prove it, Wanna go 10 rounds doc" with that the doctor figured he was okay and sent him home! He was also a great husband to Mollie who passed a few years before he did Mollie died in 2001 of Cancer that had plagued her off and on for almost 20 years, I remember when Gayle his daughter said to him after he had not left her side for almost 7 days "Dad go home get some sleep, I'll stay with Mom tonight" Willie replied "I'm not leaving unless she leaves the building too" at this point Mollie was never gonna go home doctors said she was just gonna be made comfortable (she was in a hospice) Mollie smiled and the next morning Mollie did not wake up and as soon a she was pronounce dead Willie went home!  Willie would come up to his daughters house every year and every year he Barton Gayles husband and Alvin a cousin would go to mohegan sun and play craps. Willie could roll the snake eyes over and over with no problem. so the last summer he got sick and missed his trip Barton and Gayle wanted to come down so Barton called Willie said " Barton you and Alvin need to make that casino trip then you can come down to see me" Willie had an anorism and phneumonia and did not want to ruin the fun for Alvin and Barton. Then the day before he died while in the bed he told my dad " I wanna go to the casino, I got one more big roll left in me" Barton said  "we will go as soon as you get better.  Willie said "I love you all" William Gutterman was the most selfless men I have ever known and if he and Ghandi ever had met they'd argue over the other person being the one who was not doing well! Willie left behind his daughter Gayle Robin Fink, a son Irwin Gutterman a brother Carl Gutterman sister Evelyn Brodie, a grandson Michael Fink, Granddaughter Stacy Coyne, greatgrandson Joshua Coyne, and Greatgranddaughter Mollie Coyne! Son-In-Law Barton Fink, and a daughter-in-law Marge. The funeral was packed people that had not seen him in years saw he died and just appeared out of nowhere people from odd jobs over the years that met him once or twice showed. William just had that personality that noone could ever not like him I never seen anyone like him! The reason was that he always put them, before himself! He will most definately be missed by all whoever met him! We miss you WILLIE but we all know your wanting to yell out at us "I'M GREAT, NEVER BEEN BETTER, YOU WANNA GO 10 ROUNDS i'LL TAKE YOU ALL" unless it Wednesday then your too busy makin everyone in up there pasta cause Wednesday noone cooks but you so they can all rest and so u can make your Pasta with meatsauce for everyone!
